So John Paul II might be given saint hood....
We still do this? One of the criterias (criterions?) for this is to prove that the former Pope performed miracles. The miracle?:

"An investigation by doctors and theologians appointed by the Vatican determined that a 49-year-old French nun had been cured of her debilitating Parkinson's disease two months after John Paul's death after praying to him for intercession...."We have seen a supernatural event occur in the life of a real person who has prayed for intercession. It is proof positive that the person prayed to is in heaven, which is also proof that an exemplary person has been rewarded by going to heaven,"" said some guy in the article.

Jesus H., people... really? Someone claims they had a disease (never proven) and then claims that disease is gone because of prayer and that's proof poisitve of supernatural event? I have no words for this...how do people expect to be taken seriously when they still believe in such fairy tales?

Criteria is already plural. Criterion is the singular.

I'm just going to let them be and have their saints. No bother.

How else are they going to continue capitalising on John Paul II? Now they can dig bits of him up and do tours of South America. Ought to bring the faithful out to open their wallets.

I think the only miracle he performed was keeping a bunch of pedophile priests out of jail.

You seem to be on this pedophile kick in all the threads. Pope John Paul II has done tons to bring world together and was very instrumental in getting communism out of Europe. He was a great man! Believe it or not even liberals liked him!

Ronald Reagan ended communism and the Soviet Union. Don't you forget it, like he did.

    Aside from the Kennedys.

The same group of people subscribe to bigger fairy tails than this so I'm not at all surprised.

You guys are all too young to remember history. John Paul II and Reagan were both instrumental in eliminating the socialist disease known as communism.

I believe rdowns was saying that uncle ronnie forgot just about everything within a few short years of retirement (perhaps a little cruel, but fitting enough for the total bastard the man was).

Is a person who is dangerously stupid worse than someone who is deviously malicious? More importantly, how should we judge the staff, who most probably had their wits about them and very likely took advantage of the situation?

Is China instrumental in the process of eliminating the social disease known as the United States of America?

I tend to think our woes are self-inflicted... much like the former USSR.

Fast track to somewhere else would have been more appropriate. Even more evidence that the Vatican under John Paul II and the now Benedict XVI was heavily implicated in hushing up criminal abuse of children...
