I travel a lot and take along a Linksys WTR54GS Wireless-G Travel Router. It has an internal power supply and is very small. About $100, and it lets you turn a wired line in a hotel room into a wireless network. Why does that matter? So you don't have to sit in the horrible desk chair most hotel rooms offer tethered to a 2 foot ethernet line. It also comes in handy when you are in a conference room with more meeting participants than wired ethernet ports.
