Hey guys. Probably a silly question, but can't find an answer. I've just become a Mac developer, so I'm not really sure of the answer (or where to find it quickly) -- so I was wondering, is it possible to downgrade from 10.8.2? I'm getting a heap of random Kernel Panics which are quite annoying.

    Cheers!

Anyone? I've had five Kernel Panics in the last two days! I completely understand that this is beta/non-final but just wondering if I could get out of it! :)

Why don't you just (clean) reinstall 10.8.0 and continue from there?

There is no downgrade process beyond a wipe > reload to the desired OS. Note that when you upgraded to the 10.8.2 Dev preview it also updated your recovery partition so you will likely need to go from the internet recovery utility to get you back to 10.8.1.

In the future never install a beta OS on your primary machine. Always have a second machine for beta testing or just a bootable partition on an external drive. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches in the long run.

your only option is a clean install and if you did not make a bootable copy of OSX when 10.8 was the current version your best bet would be to download 10.8.1 from the app store make a bootale usb or dvd and do a clean install

Thanks for all the tips. I have a problem however: the kernel panics are related to installation of software/apps. Whenever I attempt to install anything, it'll panic. Therefore, I can't redownload and install 10.8.0 from the App Store.

Any help is much appreciated! I will understand and learn from my mistakes if I need to wipe everything. Although this is not ideal, I have backups so it can be done.

EDIT: Booted into safe mode and updated to 12C43. No kernel panics on installation. Also no panic on installation of a 3rd party package when running in normal mode. Thanks again for the tips.
