    Hi All,

Here is the situtation - I have an iMac which is where my iPhone (3g v2.2.1) is synced up with iTunes. The problem is my iMac is at v10.5.6 and I cannot get the jailbreak to work there. I'd rather not do the v10.5.5 switch thing if I can avoid it. However, I also own a G4 Powerbook that is at v10.4.11. Can I jailbreak it there and then sync back with the iTunes on my iMac to get back the contacts, songs, etc?

You can use quickpwn on one computer and then sync it to your main computer or you can build a custom firmware with pwnage tool on one computer and then transfer the custom .ipsw to your main rig with a USB drive, or even your iPhone, and restore with that FW in iTunes.

Thanks to you both for your replies and it looks like the answer is yes. Just to confirm my steps:

    1) Backup on my iMac
    2) Download qwkpawn onto my Powerbook
    3) Run qwkpawn and do the jailbreak on the Powerback
    4) Once complete plug my iPhone back into my iMac and sync it back up

Have I got it right? Sorry if I sound lame at this but its all new to me! Also - suppose something gets messed up. I should just restore the phone on my iMac.

Thanks again for your help, it IS appreciated.

Yes you are right. Just remember to backup to the machine that you eventually want to sync to.
