I just got my university email account a month ago. I have never really used it, however, I am getting this big collection of spam, and don't have any idea where it is coming from. I am not used to this with gmail, so it's really my first experience with spam emails and scams. I just got this today, and I cannot even stop laughing it's so funny. Enjoy.

Good day,

How are you today, hope all is well with you and your family? If
so, thanks to God. I only want to show my gratitude for your
past assistance.

I hope this mail meets you in a perfect condition. I am using this
opportunity to thank you for your great effort to our unfinished
transfer of fund into your account due to one reason or the
other best known to you. But I want to inform you that I have
successfully transferred the fund out of my Country to someone else
account in Nepal who was capable of assisting me in this Great
venture.

Due to your effort, sincerity, courage and trustworthiness you showed
at the course of the transaction I want to compensate you and show
my gratitude to you with the sum of USD$1,500,000.00. I have
authorized Joe Mayer who is based in my country (South Africa) to issue
you the funds of which I directed him to deposit in account on your
behalf.

Though, I have been looking for your contact for a very long
time, but had no luck only to go back to my old computer of recent to
find your contact again. I know the $1.5M is not the percentage we
agreed at the inception of the unfinished transaction, but after the
investment done by me and the new partner who later assisted me to
finish the transaction, I was not left with much, so I decided to give
you part of what am left with because my heart has not been at rest
ever since when I remember your past assistance.

So therefore, contact Joe Mayer for the collection of the funds on
the contact information below of which I have given him instruction
on what to do as soon as you open contact with him:

Name: Joe Mayer
Email: rev-joemayer@myway.com

Contact him with immediate effect as I am very busy here because of
the investment projects which I and my new partner are having at
hand in Nepal. Finally remember that I have forwarded instruction to
him on your behalf to send the $1.5M to you as soon as you contact him.

Please understand that the money can be paid to your account as
cash ($1.5M) via telegraphic wire transfer if you want. I will not be
able to send you any more emails as result of my tight schedule. I
also want you to understand that I am a real human with a heart.
Though, you never gave me all the truth I required, but all the
same, we thank God for a successful transfer of the funds at
the end of the day.

Kindly accept this token with good faith, as this is from the bottom
of my heart and also make sure you do not let any one know about
the gift until you receive it.

I will want to say a big thanks to you and your family.

Best regards,

James Veri.

Very tempting..... :D

I did not take a screenshot of a scam I got, but I can explain it in writing.....

I got a paypal scam....It was quite easy to tell it was fake....

a) the copyright date was 2005.... the real paypal would be 2007

b) it was paypal.com.escam.com or something.... not just paypal.com and thats it

c) It didn't address me by my name, it just said Dear Customer, your account needs to be re-activated....

I can see why so many people fall for these though.... I bet most people wouldn't even notice these things!

We sincerely regret to contact you through this medium.

We could not do otherwise given the urgent attention this requires.

We are here on a natioanl assignment in Iraq.In the course of our duty,we stumbled onto some huge amount in US dollars cash.

We have deliberated on the safest means of keeping this for ourselves given the nature of our assignment and the political situation down here.We resolved to get an associate out there
to whom we can arrange and have the money sent to.Hence we are contacting you.

Your compensation is open for negotiation if you are interested.

Please let us know your interest or not for details

Canada, eh?
I've posted this before, but this one remains my favourite (hence why I keep it around)

Dear (notjustjay)
,

We recently noticed one or more attempts to log in to your TD CanadaTrus account
from a different IP address.

If you recently accessed your account while traveling, the unusual log in
attempts may have been initiated by you. However, if you did not initiate
the log ins, please visit PayPal as soon as possible to check-up your

Thanks for your patience.

It was a good thing he still had his iPhone after being mugged.
I'm more interested in how he set up a website and clever domain name in a mater of "minutes".

Some people just don't put a lot of thought in their scams. I got the same one notjustjay got about TD bank... I thought it was pretty sad that they couldn't tell the difference between paypay and TD. They tell you the threatening log-in attempts were into TD, but tell you to check your paypal (completely unrelated companies)... but the link is for TD (well at least it has TD in the domain), then they sign-off as "Paypal"! If you're going to try to scam the masses at least get what company you're trying to spoof straight first!

It was even more laughable because I don't have a TD or Paypal account! :D

Wow I get these all the time, I kinda want to do a scam the scammer thing though.

Though if there is money being made from the pieces of crap that come into my junk box, I can't imagine what a half way decent email could make me. Now that is tempting.
