For those who don't know, you can see your average number of posts per day by clicking your (or someone else's) "Profile" icon. (The icon is below each post, along with 'quote' etc.)

whats with the 6502 and 65816's? Can't we think of more unique or maybe ununique names to use?

He, he!

Shouldn´t you guys grab a pint of beer together instead?
Meet up somewhere, it would be cool to see how such
a meeting ended up.
Or have you met already?
(Sydey/Melbourne, not too close, I know…)
It would be cool to gather mac-fanatics from
all over the world and let Apple sponsor it…
Like a huge high-tech-Apple-Woodstock
"Peace-love-and great user-interface"
:)

They're old Apple processors. The big question is what happens at 2000. eyelikeart should be there sometime soon, but he's a Demi-god (he bought a MacRumors mug and gets the name showing he's a supporter), so we won't know if there is another level.

However, there is a lot of inane posting, trying to get your post count up for avatars and such. You really shouldn't post just because of that. Try and add something to the commentary, even if its your opinion, just not 2 lines about how you agree and think something is cool.

Ha ha haaa!
I suspect the next level is at 5,000 posts, not 2,000. But who knows... maybe there isn't even another level. :p Arn? Care to enlighten us? Or shall we die not knowing... ;)

I bet its a 5000 rather than 2000 it would make sense.

I look forward to getting to 1000 but I am not going to post crap messages just to get there.

I am happy being in 7th place in the top 10 ranking (http://macrumors.com/forums/memberlist.php3?what=topposters&perpage=50)

DukeStreet is the up and coming person, I went off macrumors for a few days a few weeks back (the weather was really nice so I was out all the time and didn't have time, I still luv the site!) and he went up from 200 summut to 700 summut! I think he is above me now. No hard feelings :(

I didn't start really posting until a couple months ago. My first post was on 01/02/02, got caught up in the MWSF hype. But I had lurked for a couple months before that, having joined in November.

Its taken me a couple months to get to this level.:D

I was a bit curious as to what 1500 brought...and I'd like to know what 2000 brings as well...but I don't think I'll be finding out...

I've been branded with "Demi-God" forever...he he he :p

Ok, I accidently posted the same thing twice and now it wont let me delete this one so I am going to have to use it for something! DOh! So here is my question:

Is there anything special about the number 6502 and 65816, or are they just random!

To be more specific:

The MOS Technology 6502 was used in the most of the early Apple line namely:

Apple I, ][, ][+, //e and IIc/+

The WDC 65816 was used in the Apple IIgs.

Why these are the designations given for number of posts is beyond me. Maybe it has to do with brain=processor. The more posts, the more you use your brain (hopefully) and the better processor you get......or something.

processor #'s my friend...

6502 was the processor # in the Apple I (I think it was also used in the Atari 2600 was it not??)

65816 was the processor # in the Apple IIGS

Atari 2600=6507 (A limited 6502 variant)
Atari 7800=6502C

4/8-bit gaming was so fun back in the day....

Maybe when you hit 2K you'll be a 16-bit processor like the MC68K
