I’m genuinely curious about this because I may set one up in a specific room in my house. Specifically - I am interested in the kinds of setup people have built for the base M4 from scratch… Meaning, you can’t have had a keyboard, monitor, etc sitting around. So we need setups with

-M4 Mac Mini
-Display
-Keyboard
-Pointing device
-Webcam/speakers (to the extent these aren’t included in the display)

I want to see how much people are spending to put together these Mac mini setups starting from scratch, and how high quality these setups are.

In 2018, I moved from an iMac to the Mini. Had a bit of sticker stock since I needed a lot of peripherals to get me back to where I was with the iMac.

Base M4 Mini 16 / 256
Dell P2721Q monitor (already had for work)
Dell Soundbar for that monitor model
Magic Mouse (already has)
Satechi X1 Slim Keyboard (sent back Keychron K3)

so £599 plus £60 for keyboard.

£659 all-in, meets all my requirements.

Base M4 Mini Edu (£499)
Existing monitor (Iiyama GB4361QWSU 3440x1440)
Existing keyboard (Apple A1243)
Existing mouse (Razer Deathadder V2)
Existing webcam (Logitec C615)
Existing headphones / amp+speakers

Existing PC (5600X/32GB/3060Ti) shares all peripherals.

Here's my M4 Mini setup. I used to have speakers but I decided to pack them up and not use them because the internal speaker on my Mini is more than enough for my needs. Sometimes simpler is better.

Mac mini M4 32GB 512GB
x3 LG 32" 4K 32UR500
I only needed to buy another screen for the middle, everything else was previously purchased.

-M4 Mac Mini = M4 32GB 1TB
-Display = Philips 346P1CRH and an Acer 4K
-Keyboard = Lightning Magic Keyboard
-Pointing device = Lightning Trackpad and Logi MX Master 2S
-Webcam/speakers (to the extent these aren’t included in the display) = Ankerwork C310 4K Cam, no speakers.

This is my setup as far as my Mac Mini.

Everything pictured was being used with my M1 Mac Mini but most of it I bought earlier this year.

I've had the monitors for a few years now and I do plan to upgrade them but they still serve me just fine for now.

M4 Mini (Base 256/16) - $500
Displays - HP E243i - ~$400 for both
Magic Trackpad 2 - ~$100 (Ebay - Barely Used)
Keyboard - Logitech MX Mechanical Mini - $107 (Amazon Renewed)
Mouse - Logitech MX Anywhere 3S - $66 (Amazon Renewed)
Speakers - Onn BookShelf Speakers - ~$20 (Marked down, retails for around $60)
Headphones (Not pictured, nor really necessary) Anker Soundcore Life Q30 - $80

I'm not picky on things being brand new as long as they look new (or close to it) and they work fine. Everything that ever I've bought from Amazon Renewed looked brand new and functioned just fine.

I may post this in another thread - but is the Studio Display a good purchase today? My main concern is that the camera is now behind the iMac and MacBook Pros in terms of quality - I would expect Apple to upgrade the camera in the next couple of years

I used the camera on a teams call a few days after buying the studio. It wasn't terrible as I didn't expect a ultra high quality picture, its good enough for what I would intend to use it for and it seems no worse than my iPad Air (2022) camera when I have used that for FaceTime and teams
