The rumor mill seems to suggest the titanium Apple watches will be discontinued, and that Apple will focus on aluminum. I even heard that Stainless Steel may not be reintroduced.

1) Do you think Titanium watches will be discontinued for Series 7?
2) Do you think Hermès watches will be discontinued?
3) Do you think Stainless Steel models will be discontinued?
4) Are any of you buying these models now to avoid the situation?

I have the SS Series 6 Gold now, but I am thinking about picking up a Hermès or titanium version right before the keynote, with the option to return if necessary

The Hermès edition watches are surely a very low volume product but perhaps they have a kind of 'halo' value to the Apple Watch line that makes it worthwhile to continue them. And really the only difference is in the bands anyway, the watch itself is unchanged (ok, space black stainless seems to be unique to the Hermès model as well).

Eliminating the Hermès model is not going to be very consequential, if they do so. They probably have enough bands already produced to satisfy demand for a couple of years anyway! I haven't read any articles suggesting they will not be continued.

I can't imagine they would eliminate the stainless steel models given that titanium is already out of stock. Surely they want more choice to be available than simply the different aluminum colors. The stainless models also have the sapphire crystal display.

I doubt that very many people are worrying about such things and placing pre-emptive orders as you seem to be considering. But if you are in a position to do so, why not?

To your specific questions:

1) probably
2) no idea, but probably not
3) no
4) heck no!

With regards to Hermès, oh I hope not! My wife is a huge fan of Hermès and I was able to successfully get her to switch from Android to Apple because of the Hermès Apple Watch. It comes with exclusive watch faces that she actually uses and the back of the case is stamped with “Hermès”. Not sure a regular SS watch with an Hermès band will cut it for her lol. We’re too deep in the Apple eco system now and I don’t want to have that harmony broken up lol.

My first Apple Watch was the S4 in Al, then went to the S5 in SS and now I’m on the S6 in Ti. Only switched to Ti because they got rid of SBSS. Planned on switching back to SS for the S7 so I hope they don’t discontinue it. It’s my favorite finish. The IonX screen on the Al was pure trash IMO. If they only bring back Al, I would hope they have a sapphire screen option at the very least. Maybe bundle it with Cellular.

1) I could take it or leave it. Wouldn’t lose sleep over it but possible it will be discontinued.
2) I highly doubt it. Hermès has a very exclusive customer base. Some of their items require a purchase history and invitation to purchase, even if you walk in the store flashing sufficient cash for the item. They don’t operate on high volume mass sales. They just introduced some ridiculously priced AirTag accessories a few months back. They’re all about exclusivity, not high volume.
3) I doubt it. I think SS has a loyal enough fan base to keep em going.
4) Not in a million years. I do a yearly upgrade on devices that have a yearly release, to have the latest and greatest. (I’m a bit of a tech junkie). I wouldn’t buy aging tech when something new is out, just because they decided to discontinue the casing material. If I was buying a watch for the case material, I’d be looking at something other than a smart watch. I buy the Apple Watch for the software and advances on electronic hardware to run that software.

I haven’t heard that. I’d be extremely disappointed if they discontinued the stainless steel models. I might could live with it, if they made the aluminum displays sapphire. However, I would not pay more than $500 for an aluminum model, sapphire or not.

I don’t think they spend hardly any extra on Hermès, so I doubt that would be discontinued. Titanium, I can maybe see being discontinued. I have read rumors that other Apple products will be made with titanium soon, and they may want to free up production for those?

And neither has anyone else! This is strictly speculation on the part of the OP, I think (no source is offered for it).
I definitely heard or read about it somewhere as well. I’ll try to find a link to at least one of the sources. Of course, it’s a rumor of a rumor. Never announced by Apple.

According to this article, Mark Gurman, the king of Apple leaks and rumors speculated it. He’s not right 💯 of the time though.

There is not one word about the Stainless Steel version in that link/article. Apple never called the Stainless Steel version „Edition“, either.

They're likely to keep the Hermès line. The Apple-Hermès partnership is stronger than ever with the introduction of the AirTags Hermès and Hermès iPhone MagSafe case. If they do discontinue the Edition, I'm hoping that they'd transition the Hermès Apple Watch from stainless steel to titanium instead. Hermès recently introduced a couple titanium watches themselves so a titanium Apple Watch Hermès would be very on brand.

I don’t know why you’re getting mad at me. I didn’t say SS was an “Edition” model, that it will be discontinued nor did I didn’t create this thread. I’m just offering a link to what the OP might be talking about, mainly with regards to Ti.

FWIW, I don’t think SS will go away as I stated in my first post. Ti, maybe, maybe not. Who knows?

Ok, I misread. Thought you were talking about the Steel Watch. Sorry!

Edit: and you misread the post that you were reacting to, I think. Because that one did talk about the Steel version. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Either way, the Stainless Steel Watch isn‘t going anywhere. It is the iconic AW. I could sooner see Aluminium be replaced by polycarbonate. Which I would like!

SS,Ti and Hermes are huge contributors to margins for AW, they will stay, maybe Ti rotating with ceramic again…

No,
No,
No,
and No.

The "discontinued" rumors seem to come from folks having difficulty putting 2 & 2 together and arriving at 4.

Did the titanium S6 models become unavailable? Sure. Apple apparently sold more of them than they expected, and chose not to do another production run.

I mean why would they?

Think this through....

If they're doing a new case design as many anticipate, they'd be focusing on producing the new models. Why would they do another production run of series6 watches they won't be selling any more of in a few short weeks?

The only edition I find interesting they've killed off is the Ceramic. It was a niche product for sure but plenty of people liked them, especially the white ceramic.

Yes, I would like to see a titanium Apple Watch Hermes, as well. They did add Space Black with the Series 5 and made it exclusive to the Hermes with Series 6, so there is precedent.
