I knew I would miss it, but it's worse than expected after getting a taste here on b3. Maybe I'm in the minority with this, since I have to multifactor dozens of times a day for work, but I'm so used to hardpressing to quickly authenticate - now when I do that, it registers as a normal press and takes me into the app, which means waiting then pressing another key, which totally screws up the flow (not to mention removes all my other notifications). This will be the worst part of the iphone 12 for sure.

I feel you!! I’ll get used to it once I own a phone without 3D Touch but it sure as hell isn’t fun to deal with while you’re still adjusting to it. The parts I miss most are the ability to 3D Touch on notifications for more actions, and the keyboard trackpad. But hey, new Memoji’s will fix it all!!

I noticed this too! In iOS 13 while the nice responsive animations were gone you could still use a force touch to reach long press functions quickly... in iOS 14 it seems to be completely gone. Same with watchOS.

Boo-urns.

The worst for me is the lack of being able to move the cursor on the keyboard anywhere on the screen. I keep forgetting that I have to press on the space bar and sometimes I want to move the cursor like 4 rows down in a text and it’s almost impossible to move it that far down without pulling your finger off the space bar and dropping the cursor

You can use Haptic Touch (long press) on the spacebar to activate the cursor control mode and as soon as it activates you can lift your finger and reposition it on the (blank) keyboard to get into a better position and then start using it from there.

Are you able to use Haptic Touch (long press) on notifications to basically get the same effect as 3D Touch (given that supposedly Haptic Touch should be basically in all the places that 3D Touch is)?

I haven’t had any luck with it. Long pressing never brings up a menu like it used to so I’ve just gone to sliding over and hitting view. I really hope Apple re-enables 3D Touch in the next beta, or adds the notification functionality back.

Yeah, the next thing I was going to suggest was the slide over functionality. It still seems odd that Haptic Touch won't work in all the places where 3D Touch would.

I don’t really miss it having the SE (2020). I had 3D Touch with previous iPhones. I will miss it on the Apple Watch, as that is where I have used it the most. I can only hope that doing away with the feature means possible better battery, added features etc.

If only they would support being able to use Haptic Touch on notifications where 3D Touch can be used, at least that would bring it more in line with a replacement.

Exactly. I'd be a lot happier if that was the case.
