oh yeah, and i forgot to add that when apple called me to say i had to place a new order they also told me that prices had gone up, so now instead of paying something like £3200 for my dual id have to pay £3500, for exactly the same CTO configuration... they told me not to worry as they would offer a rebate on the new order, but so far got nothing from them, so tomorrow is complaning day

Not sure where else to post this
Went into the local compUSA (South Austin) for Acc's for the new IPOD and to see if they had any new G5's setup this afternoon. They had a new 1.6 (On Display) and 1.8 in store but not setup, however, the 1.6 display had no power. They couldn't even turn the thing on. How does Apple expect to make *NEW* customers if their reseller's won't even properly showcase their new equipment? Needless to say, besides being pleased that I was actually able to put my hands on one, I was very disappointed that I could not see it up and running. BTW: This is a store with an Apple Rep on site. He's a nice guy but doesn't seem to know that much.

afonso: Check your airborne shipping info (If That's the shipping company) I'm curious how long it takes for yours to arrive. Mine shipped on the 11th from Shanghia and was delivered this morning. So 8 days total. I hope you get yours more quickly.

I ordered my dualie within seconds of the keynote ending. Still no sign of it shipping. I'm beginning to think that the 250MB hd upgrade is the culprit. I would change it, except that I've already purchased another 250 to mirror with it.
If my machine doesn't ship this week, virginia tech is going to be down to 1099 machines!

my order was CTO, non-edu, dual 2, 9800, placed 6/26 8:49am (EST). up until now (6pm) it was listed as OOB 9/22.
so I called that number and (very calmly) explained how upset I was, especially since I've been seeing people with orders MUCH later than mine having theirs shipped.
so he says: "basically, you can disregard that notification email. what I have in my system here is that your computer is "in process". what "in process" means is that it's built, it's ready, it's boxed, it's labeled - it's just waiting for the shipper to pick it up. "in process" consists of a 12 hour window. whether we're at the beginning of that 12 hours or the end, I dont have any information. but your computer will be shipped out probably today, or tomorrow at the latest."
was he just blowing smoke up my ass? was he just trying to placate me, or should I believe this?
oh, that apple logo-shaped ulcer in my stomach keeps getting bigger and bigger....

my date was pushed to 10/22 a week ago with a 300$ ( canadian ) rebate ...without even asking....
called Apple and the Rep told me it was still on shedule for early shipments...(9/22)
called again today...good news it was ready to be shipped at the factory ( Sacramento )

Just checked my order status...It states at the top "shipped" and at the bottom "open" and no tracking # yet and no e-mail from Apple. On hold right now waiting to talk with Apple. Anyone have any idea what this means?

Don't get freaked by the whole tracking number thing... I was in the same boat about a week ago.. ordered 2.0 blue 9800 got the email... and the tracking number .. it never tracked the computer showed up before the tracking info hit the website...it is sweet.. much more impressive in person... the day it arrived I went to my local Apple store and picked up a 23 HD....
