PowerMac 2.0GHz Machines - 10-15 Business Days

When I called Airborne, they told me that having a tracking number doesn't mean that it's been shipped.

It just means Apple assigned it a number.

The Airborne lady said it could be a month from the time Apple shows a tracking number until Airborne actually gets the package.

Not saying this is what Apple's doing to you, but caveat emptor.

Oh, I hope not! I've waited for this computer to come out since the beginning of the year. I was just checking the information on the airborne site and it tells me no status is available but that it is 1 piece and weighs 58 pounds. It also states express shipping and when I click on it it states overnight shipping. I think I'll call airborne right now.
 
G5 Definitely shipped!

I just spoke with Airborne Express and the said my G5 has definitely shipped and is being shipped overnight to arrive here no later than 12 noon tomorrow!...I'll never get any sleep tonight! I was nesting during the hurricane last week getting the computer room ready for the new baby!!!!!! Oh, I'm so excited!!!!!

G2 Dual on the way!

I ordered in June and waited until August just to see my hopes crushed. My new shipped by date was Sept. 22. I waited. My kids waited and asked. Then, on Sept. 22 I got this message:
"Dear Valued Apple Customer,

Thank you for placing your Apple Store Order xxxxxxx

We need your response to continue processing your order.
Due to an unexpected supply delay, we are unable to ship the
following
item(s) by the last date you were quoted:
Z07K, POWER MAC G5 2.0GHZDP CTO
will now ship on or before 10/14/2003.

Ohmygod! Shot down again. Then, the next day a new message appeared. It had been shipped on the 22nd! Oh happy day! I checked with Airborne and they have it in their quick and gentle hands (better be gentle). They will have it on my front steps tomorrow!

Help. I'm hypervenilating.
 
good news i ordered july 17th and its shipped....

my orderstatus states that my g5 is shipping, and i ordered on July 17th... and it was an EDU order, so for those of you who ordered before July 17th you should have yours shipped already!
so hopefully that's good news to some of you. It seems like apple is shipping these things out the doors now. Hopefully it'll keep trickiling down faster and faster.

G5 duals

They must have got a whole boat or cargo jet full of them. It looks like they're filling orders from the beginning well into July in a single day. Mine was shipped from Sacramento. I think early posts reflected shipments directly from Asia.
 
chorizo: you might be referring to my 40 Gig Ipod. It shipped from Shanghia last week and I mentioned it on this thread. I think someone else may have misread my statement and thought I was talking about my G5 coming from Shanghia. Anyway my G5 did ship yesterday but it came from:

Oh by the way the 40G Ipod works great. I've got about 28 Gig of music on it already. Of course I'm gonna blow it away when the G5 shows up and set it up using ITunes instead of this musicmatch junk.
And although I gave the Ipod to my wife, I haven't actually turned it over to her yet. You know I've gotta work out all the bugs first. ;)

The tracking numbers see to be real indicators that they're actually moving them.
That's a relief.

Real Bummer

i received my tracking # last night and my G5 was supposed to be here by noon. Airborne had some kind of delay...claimed weather...and status still states in transit. They can't tell me where it is...just in transit. Did anyone else have the same experience?

exactly the same experience. my airborne ( I HATE airborne - they are the worst by far) tracking info says it was picked up at 9:01am 9/22, "location: shippers door". it hasnt changed since last night. so now I'm having great mental images of the airborne guy sitting on my box on the stoop of 1 infinite loop drinking 40s out of brown paper bags with the apple assembly techs and steve J. anywho, I called airborne tonight and they assured me I'd get it tomorrow (they didnt actually offer any explanation weather or otherwise).

I'm sorry to see that happen to you too but at least that tells me something is going on at Airborne. They told me of the delay around 1015 this am but didn't tell me until 1215 that it wouldn't arrive today. Mine states the same stats as yours and Airborne told me to I'd get it tomorrow. I sure hope so. Can't afford anymore time off of work but can't afford not to be here either!!! I'll post as soon as I hear something or my status on Airborne site changes.
 
Wierd thing is, I shipped a big digital mixer with DHL recently, and they were awesome. Ground service arrived next day on the other coast!

I wonder if the merger will mean airborne gets better or worse...

Anybody got mangled G5s?
 
yeah - I just ordered a Formac 17"er to go with my (soon to be) old G4 (350! yikes! the spanking new 23"HD is going with the dual). it shipped from california via airborne ground and arrived in exactly 24 hours from when I PLACED the order. stupid me, I made a joke about how if I'd actually ordered it express, it would have taken a week. karma's a bitch.

there was some bad wx on the east coast yesterday... but fedex delivered my 2.0 in the middle of the hurricane overnight.... I had the computer before the tracking info was in the available online

Congrats you lucky thing!!! I just got a call from airborne...it has arrived at the local station...they just can't guarantee delivery by 12 noon though it was due yesterday by 12 noon. The only problem is I have to be at work at 1:00 today and they tell me I can't pick it up myself at the local station.....I'm gett more grey hair!!!
 
Apple Stores expecting shipments anytime now

several apple stores have confirmed that the shipments are in transit and should be arriving anytime now. Maybe today or tomorrow. Looks like I will be canceling my internet order and getting one before the week is out. All the stores should have them soon, so I imagine lots of internet orders will be canceled which will speed up all those people that have special configuations.

Okay, now I'm really mad! Like I said earlier, I ordered June 23, within seconds of the keynote ending. The only change I made was to upgrade the HD to a 250.

Late yesterday, my orderstatus listed the machine as canceled, with a new line added at the bottom (strangely all on one line - no line items):

OCTOBER 29??!??

So much for first come first serve! Why is everybody else getting their machine ahead of me? Including people with 250G drives!

So I called them yet again, and they said that they made a mistake that they meant to say 3-5 days not 3-5 weeks. I explained that my orderstatus doesn't say anything about 3-5 anything, it just has a new date of 10/29. They just said, "hrmmpf, that's interesting."

I swear if I lived near Cupertino....

Powermax.com indicates, on their web site, that a shipment is on the way to them as well. By next week, I suspect, most dealers will have dual G5s in stock.
