Hey guys, so i'm planning on buying the iphone 6 outright this year and if current rumors are true i'll pre-order this friday at midnight. I have never pre-ordered before and for those of you who have, are there any problems with pre-ordering ? For example has there ever been a situation where a massive amount of orders are being placed that the apple website goes down or possibly any other problems with placing the order ?

Like every pre-order? The Apple store app has been better than the store on the Apple website in previous years - the website goes slow due to the load.
Not being able to get through the pages of ordering, and being too slow in ordering might be two issues.

Yep, it's very busy. I got through in around 15 minutes for the iPhone 5 but I had multiple tabs open.. refresh refresh refresh ;)

Oh wow :p Maybe the app would be better to use then:D I just updated my express checkout preferences so maybe that might help a bit.

Using the apple store app on the iPhone or ipad has been a much easier and better ordering experience for me (and a lot of others based on what I've read here)

I use the back way, though the carrier. :p

Nobody expects it....

Got my iPhone 5 on Launch day, and didn't even have to wake up till 7am.

I wonder why Apple's website struggles so much on launch day, could it be because everyone has multiple tabs and devices constantly refreshing the page
That's probably the case. I'll use the app at midnight with express checkout enabled. Hopefully no problems!:apple:

Are you in PST? On the iPhone 5 pre order day it didn't come out for preorder until 3AM-3:30AM est if I remember correctly.

Doesn't that behavior contribute to the sluggishness of the site? If everyone is constantly refreshing pages...it will make the site slow which is what you're trying to avoid anyways. Right? Wrong?

Absolutely ZERO patience, people have these days.

Just like driving.. oh, you're coming up the on ramp? Let's zip across all lanes to get to the fast lane immediately, causing the rush hour traffic jam. Zero patience, that's why we can't have nice things.

One piece of advice: if you are upgrading on your existing carrier, make sure prior to the date of pre-order that everything is squared away with billing. I had a payment due with AT&T, and even though I paid it that night it couldn't register through the system, so I was unable to complete the pre-order to many hours later the next day.

Boo hoo.. survival of the fittest. You use 1 tab. I'll use 6. Way of the world.

I want to say it took me 30 minutes to preorder the 5 two years ago. I tried both Apple's site and ATT's site. Interesting that the app works better for you guys. May have to do that this year...

That's what I've always done as well. And if I call before the order is processed, I can request overnight with Saturday delivery for free as a "valued customer".

from my experience with iphone 4, buying from AT&T is a pain when dealing with return/exchange. my iphone 4 from AT&T has yellowish screen. AT&T sent me to apple store , and apple store sent me back to AT&T since I did not buy from Apple.

I'd rather deal with apple than AT&T if I have a choice.

I worked at Apple as a genius.. I would have referred you to a specialist who can replace your device while it is inside the 14 days of the purchase date.

If it was outside the 14 days.. Then the Apple employee was correct.

that is confusing. from retail perspective, when a purchase is out of 14/30 days window, a customer has to deal with manufacturer, Apple in this case.

if it is within 14 days, then it is AT&T responsibility since they are the seller/retailer.

This should be the same as anything else like buying a TV at Best Buy.
