Health care overhaul spawns mass confusion for public

"They're saying, 'Where do we get the free Obama care, and how do I sign up for that?' " said Carrie McLean, a licensed agent for eHealthInsurance.com. The California-based company sells coverage from 185 health insurance carriers in 50 states.

"We tell them it's not free, that there are going to be things in place that help people who are low-income, but that ultimately most of that is not going to be taking place until 2014," McLean said.

I enjoy how the mainstream right and left can be so confused about what they are getting. Welcome to corrupt private industry slavery America, brought to you by a democratic congress and Obama.

I doubt a fair amount of American's from both sides knew what the bill was actually about before it was passed... why would they know now? There was so much incorrect stuff thrown at them by the media I almost don't blame them for their ignorance.

We've been here since deregulation became the reality behind the rhetoric.

But yea America is now corrupt and run by private industry, it just happened today.

To be fair it's not just under the present regime it's been a country of corrupt private industry slavery for at least one hundred years.

Refer them all to Nancy P's office! Since she claimed we need to pass health reform so we can find out what’s in it, the insurance companies should route all calls on it to her!

With the SC ruling on corporate donations to political campaigns it can only get worse.

Yeah, because before the bill passed average Americans could afford healthcare without insurance, thats only available from, you guessed it private insurance companies.

Ironically, these people seem to understand the health care bill better than the teabaggers. You'll notice that the above people aren't calling to ask about euthanasia and death panels.

I agree. And to add insult to injury, the media, legislators, lobbyists, doctors, insurance CEOs, and the American public had more than sufficient time - 72 hours even - to read the mere 2,400 pages final bill before its passage. If they couldn't read and process that bill before the vote, surely they can't have the wherewithall to do so now. Ridiculous.

Look at what Democrats are doing now about health care questions - lying in response to them! Here's liberal Democrat Wasserman-Schultz (D-Florida) flat out lying, saying there’s no requirement to buy insurance in ObamaCare in response to constituent's question!

Rep. Wasserman Schultz Insists Health Care Law Doesn't Require Individuals to Buy Insurance

(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D.-Fla.) is insisting that the new health care law she voted for last month does not mandate that individuals buy health insurance, despite language in the law that plainly says otherwise.

But you don't. Yes, you pay a tax if you don't, but you're still legally entitled not to buy health insurance if you so choose.

Please- I don't like the law, but this has been debated for almost a year. Anyone who doesn't know what this is about has simply not been paying attention.

I believe those who in opposition would say "same thing" or something like that.

Glad Im getting out of here? :D

Huge difference between a private corporation not doing its job, and forcing private citizens to buy from private corporations who couldn't do their job to start with. At least Americans had a choice (albeit not a very good one) not to be involved with these greedy companies before.

Completely agree. I can't come close to better stating how easy it was for the average voter/legislator/physician/insurance representative to read the f.i.n.a.l 2,400+ bill in a 72-hour period than has already been stated in this forum, so allow me to quote:

These are the same people who thought that they would never have to pay a mortgage or car payment ever again once Obama became president. Search Youtube for the car payment videos.

Or, watches Fox News, listens to Limbaugh/Hannity/Beck/Ingraham/Levin, attends tea party rallies, and believes the President is a Socialist, Muslim anti-Christ.

Wait a second, doesn't everyone want something free? If not, why do the wealthy take advantage of deductions? Actually, who do everyone who itemizes take advantage of those deductions? Why do the wealthy take advantage of off-shore bank accounts? Capital gains tax rates? Estate tax breaks?

Why do people go to Denny's for free pancakes?

How many free coffees did McDonalds give away?

This isn't a matter of Obama supporters are a bunch of freeloaders, this is nothing more than people mistakenly believing that Health Care Reform would provide universal coverage.

Why on earth do you think people might be confused? [sarcasm] It isn't like there wasn't an honest and open debate about the actual issues. The republicans did a wonderful job of never confusing the issues or intentionally spreading misinformation. [/sarcasm]

We have a thread for that already, no? Why do you try to overshadow the stupidity of the left while highlighting the stupidity of the right?

On the contrary, it sounds like the entitled left. “I never thought this day would ever happen. I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage… If I help [Obama], he’s gonna help me.”

Did you seriously just try to link getting free stuff with deductions on your taxes so that the government doesn't take all (or more) of your earned money? The people worked for or risked money in order to gain that money... someone getting something free didn't risk anything.

Corporations are made of people, they can be formed for profit or not.

Why would we restrict people from forming any group they choose, let as a function of how they choose to express themselves?
