In my work I often review standard camcorder video recordings that have been burned onto DVD's using consumer-level burners. I have had trouble editing these using iMovie, due to format compatibility issues. Or at least that is what I think has been the problem. Maybe it was an older version of iMovie, since I have not tried recently. Could someone advise me about how I can make this a smoother process? I am not trying to copy or edit any copyrighted material. These are essentially home movies that have been burned onto DVD's.

Thanks, Doug

Doug, does "burnen onto DVD's" mean that those DVDs contain a VIDEO_TS folder, and that you can play them using Apple's DVD-Player (as opposed to the DVD containing a .mov file or something...)? If so, you may want to take a look at Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/)...
