I have set Mail up with my accounts but continue to use Thunderbird as my default e-mail client because Mail appears to have a serious flaw. E-mails that are waiting to be downloaded are not received by Mail but are by Thunderbird when I use it after Mail. I've checked the presence of the e-mails on the server by means of webmail. While this problem persists, I shall not be able to trust Mail.
As a recent switcher from the PC, I intend to move from Windows software to OS X equivalents over the next few months. Mail's problems and Mark Space's Missing Sync problems are significant obstacles to my, admittedly leisurely, progress but I shall get there in time.
I have discovered that Mail gets e-mail for the first account that I set up but not for the others even though all are marked for inclusion when Mail polls for incoming messages. The trouble is that the first account is the one that my ISP provided whereas the other two are for business and personal e-mails and are used far more often. Is this fault rectified by the existing or imminent updates to 10.5?
