I had bought AppleCare+ on my iPad Pro and it recently expired. I tried to renew it in the Settings -> General -> About screen. It got to the point where I could buy it, but I have different Apple IDs for iCloud and iTunes and it asked me for my iCloud password, but wouldn’t take it. It did take my iTunes password and the purchase “dinged”, but it kept taking me back to the purchase screen. Basically I couldn’t do the purchase through Settings. I ran into the same problem using the Apple Support app.

I finally logged into mysupport.apple.com and renewed it there with a credit card after running a diagnostic. I then tried to complete setup in the Support app like it asked me to, but that kept failing because I think it wasn’t using the correct Apple ID again. Finally I logged back into the web site and clicked a complete setup link there which took me into iTunes and I could log into my iTunes Apple ID and the subscription now shows up under my subscriptions. The Apple Support app also shows I have AppleCare+ and I can manage the subscription there as well as in the Apple ID settings.

My problem at this point is the General -> About screen still says coverage expired. If I try to renew it gives me an error, likely because the plan is active. I’ve tried restarting, but it’s still wrong.

Any idea how to get the about screen to show I have coverage?

You can contact Apple Support and explain your situation to them, maybe they could sort it out. I do hear that renewing expired AppleCare+ might not be a supported scenario, so hope your monthly AppleCare+ doesn't get cancelled after contacting Apple Support.

I contacted them and they said I have AppleCare+. I think the problem is that iOS doesn’t support renewing when using multiple Apple IDs. That or it’s a bug.

My iPad is still showing as coverage expired in the about screen, but the support page is showing it’s active.

iOS does support renewing using multiple Apple ID. I’m using multiple Apple ID and I get my renew status properly updated. The only difference is I start the renew sooner than you before timer runs out. Since it’s a one way street (if you cancel, you can no longer renew again) I don’t want to miss it.

I wasn’t given the option to renew until it expired. That’s when the “AppleCare+ Coverage Available” link showed up with a day countdown below it. It showed 22 days left last night. It now shows 21 days even though I’ve already renewed.

Ohh… you mean that.
Yeah. There’s a window after your original AppleCare expire. I renewed mine during this period so iOS showed it up properly. I’m in Australia though, not in US.

It updated after 24 hours to show the correct status.

I still don’t know why it wouldn’t let me subscribe from the about screen though.
