Put a screen protector on?

Should I put a screen protector on my iPod Touch 2G? Is it safer or better without? I got one with my Rebel Touch and I don't know if I should put it on.

How exactly is it going to be safer without a screen protector. I got the second gen 16GB the weekend it was released and since there was no cases for the ipod i couldn't get one and what do you know. a small scratch on the bloody screen. Dont ask me how though because i was very safe with it but i was lucky because the touch screen was defective so im getting a new one with no scratches and i will be purchasing the case and screen protector for this one
