well, you can export the mp3 to a lower bitrate. you could export the mp3 to aac at a lower bitrate...

as for splitting, select the section to you want to split (with the arrows under the progress bar) and then copy that selecttion (apple+c) open a new file and there you go.

Ok since that was easy, I have another question!
How do you take the words from a song, so you can have just the back round music?

The only way of reliably achieving this is to get hold of the multi-track recording, remix the track whilst muting the original vocals, I'm sure the artist would be more than happy to furnish you with a complete copy of the MTs (not).

Seriously, there was a device that claimed to be able to do this, but it was totally crap and made the track unusable. It's not possible to do it reliably of effectively, although a heavily notch-filtered EQ will always have some effect.

Sorry.

yeah, it depends on the song, but it is sometimes possible, using the eq to *almost* narrow out the frquency bands with the vocals. if you're lucky.

maybe and hopefully one day the technology in our world will be advanced enough to do that.

then there will be covers of great bands too often! AHHH!

there could be pluses to it also :p
