Quality of Satechi Type-C Aluminum Stand & Hub for Mac Mini

Hi,

Am I the only one who have quality issues with this USB hub/SD card reader?

I'm now on my second one, and I have problems with the SD Card reader - the first one required me to use pliers to get the sd-card out, and with the secondone (though possible to get the card out without pliers) still have issue.

With non of them the smart card is seen by the OS (Mojave)....

Anyone else with these issues, or am I just running into a very bad badge (Amazon) ?

Well I figured it out, kind of end-user problem - they have turned the smart-card reader upside-down.... go figure.

Another thing - they show on their website / documenation that it will blow air into the mini - that is not enough - I have raised my mini approx 5mm from the base, to make sure that cool air can be sucked into the mini.

And the USB-C port is not powerfull enough to power my ICY BOX IB-1817M-C31 with an Samsung Evo 970 in it .. Just for your information.

Good idea, will try that. But the two holes in the base does not provide much air. But good idea.

That worked, I still have it standing on some rubber feet (3mm high), but the temperature dropped with 3-4 degrees during idle to around 40c.

Maybe Satechi should ship the stand with a new mini stand.
