Should i be able to open my quark 6 files in Indesign? I thought that was one of the perks of indesign. I am able to open quark older files but not my 6.0 files. Do i need a plugin?

thanks

You need to save the Quark 6 files down to version 4. You can save down to 5 in Quark 6, then you need to open the files in Quark 5 to save down to 4.

I just loaded inDesign yesterday, and I am SO HAPPY to finally not have to use Quark!

Me too!

The Purchase order is on my desk for CS2 Suite.

I've got to make the conversion from Quark 3. Hope it works.

I've kept an old PM 8500 running (it's offically 10 years old) just to do one project every summer that would require too much work to reformat in another program.

Hopefully it will swap to Indesign with out too much trouble.

I'm in almost exactly the same boat. I'm still on Quark v 3.3, which I need for about 1 week per year. It runs OK on my new Mac mini, but my CS2 Standard Suite will be here tomorrow, and I'll be able to finally make the jump! I downloaded an InDesign demo last year, and was able to open all of my Quark files without any trouble. I hope that's still true for CS2.

Made the swap

Indesign opened the Quark3 file with very minor problems. I had to move some photos around in their frames.

I think I'll keep it.
