I have a question about the Student union (buy a Mac get a free ipod mini)
deal going on right now. The fine print says it excludes the iBook with CD-Rom drive. Are they referring to the combo drive? I don't see iBooks with a CD-ROM drive on the Apple site.

The education store still sells ibooks with cd-roms. I'm pretty sure you have to purchase the computer and ipod though the edu store to receive the rebate.

So it does. My mistake I didn't notice the low model was a CD-ROM and not a combo. Yeah you have to buy through the educational store or at the school.

hey when you buy with the student discount, do they exempt the sales tax? because the mini ipod is $187 and thats what you get as a rebate, so Im wondering does that mean I have to pay only for the sales tax?

You have to be logged into your educational discount through the Student Union on the bottom of the page of the Apple Store to the left.

Have to be a college student.

yes you can use that for ANY iPod, you just get a $179 discount on it ;)

If that means a free iPod mini or a iPod 20GB, $179 bucks less!

I have a couple questions about the two iPod promos.

1. Can I purchase a non-refurbished 30 GB iPod from the "Sales" part of the online website with the iPod $179 rebate?

2. The free engraving, does that include the U2 Special Edition?

3. Also, can I use those two promos in conjunction with the printer promo?

Thanks for all the help up front.

1. The offer states...
Buy a qualifying iBook, iMac, PowerBook, or Power Mac computer and an iPod...

• Products must be purchased from the Apple Online Store for Education Individuals, an Apple retail store, Apple Telesales, or an Apple Authorized Campus Reseller located in the United States or District of Columbia.

• QUALIFYING PRODUCTS: Apple iMac, iBook, PowerBook, or Power Mac purchases qualify for this offer. The eMac and Mac mini product families are excluded from this offer. The 12-inch iBook with CD-ROM drive is also excluded from this offer. iPod, iPod mini, and iPod photo qualify for this offer. iPod shuffle is excluded from this offer. (Qualifying iPod Part Numbers: M9829/P9829, M9802/P9802, M9800/P9800, M9804/P9804, M9806/P9806, M9801/P9801, M9803/P9803, M9805/P9805, M9807/P9807, M9830/P9830, M9282/P9282, MA079/PA079). This offer is not valid with the purchase of used equipment, reconditioned equipment, demonstration units, or refurbished equipment.

• You must purchase all qualifying Apple products at the same time on the same sales receipt to be eligible for the mail-in rebate. The mail-in rebate is good for up to $179 off of a qualified purchase. Rebate amount is not to exceed the sales price of the iPod excluding sales tax.
So, as long as the iPod you want to buy is one of the model numbers listed above and is not a refurbished unit, then it ought to qualify.

2. No. Due to the U2 members signatures already in the engraving area on the iPod U2.

3. Yes. Well, you can't use the free engraving on the iPod U2, however you can use the free engraving on an iPod or iPod mini. And get a rebate on the iPod. And use the printer promo.
