If Apple's Black Friday promotion turns out to be not compelling to shop there, if I buy a MBA at Best Buy, Target or another retailer having a big money-saving promotion....

1. Will the Apple Store's Genius Bar still service my MBA even though it were purchased elsewhere?
2. Do these other retail stores also sell AppleCare and, if so, would any offer discounts on Applecare?
3. Can I still buy AppleCare at the AppleStore at a late date even if I buy the MBA elsewhere?

Thanks.

1. yes
2. Any store that sells Apple products will sell AppleCare. Some sell at discount (Amazon, LA Computer - perhaps best not to go EBay).
3. You can buy AppleCare for a product up to 364 days after purchase.

So I can buy the MBA from Apple or Best Buy on Friday and then buy Applecare from Amazon, for example, any time later within the year?

I'm not sure how Apple care works after the fact, but to answer some of the other questions:

A Mac bought at X will always be able to be serviced by Apple. Whether at an Apple Store or via their customer service.

Most retailers sell AppleCare if they sell Apple products. Some run sales one AppleCare or do bonus/incentive packages with it. Adorama had a sale the other day that included AppleCare with new MacBook Pro purchases.

OP asks:

Yes.

You can hunt around for deals on AppleCare such as B&H or perhaps LA Computer Company.

A warning:
DO NOT buy AppleCare from ANY ebay seller that offers to send you a code via email (but no retail box with documentation inside). These are SCAMS that use illegally-generated code numbers. ONE and ALL of them.

Thank you. I did buy the MBA 13" 256GB from Best Buy on Friday for $999. I bought AppleCare this morning directly from Apple for $183 as I got the education discount because I work for a university.
