    News link

Lois Maxwell played Miss Jane Moneypenny in 14 James Bond Films, almost matching the 17 times that Desmond Llewelyn played my namesake character Q.

She died a few days ago at age 80. Her last Bond film was "A View to a Kill."

I liked her character because Miss Moneypenny could keep up with Bond's quips and send them zinging right back at him as fast as you could toss a hat on a hatrack.

I was very surprised to learn that Lois Maxwell met Roger Moore in acting school when she was 15, and it was apparently only coincidence that they ended up doing Bond films together later, from 1973 to 1985.

    Dr. Q,

Thanks for sharing the sad news.

I had not heard of her passing.

She will be missed, as is Q.

(Bet you didn't know there is another fan as dedicated to oh oh seven in the forums as you? We need to compare notes one day.)

I'm glad to know you're a Bond fan too, rjphoto. I'm sure we were all shaken (not stirred) to hear this news about Miss Moneypenny.

If you didn't already do so, be sure to vote in the Favorite Bond Film poll.

I did not know she was Canadian, by birth. Indeed, R.I.P., Miss Moneypenny.

D@m^ it Q, now you've gone and done it.

I'm going to end up spending the rest of the afternoon reading that entire poll.

But thanks, somehow I missed that poll.

    Later.

    Sad news indeed.

I never realised she was that age.
