    Ummm... Yes, the iceberg did sink the ship; according to this theory the ship just sank faster because of the bad rivets.

    This isn't new information, my granddad told me this years ago. Basically the rivets were substandard as the ship was "unsinkable" so they didn't think they had to bother. That was also why they didn't have enough lifeboats for all the passengers.

    Actually they had more lifeboat spaces than was required.
