Do the G5 Radeon 9600/9650 work on OS9? (When propperly tapped the 3 and 11)

I am interested in cards beyond the Radeon 9000 and the Geforce 4Ti (last official OS9 cards with drivers for OS9)

I know there is also a PCI Radeon 9200, but I am more interested in users that BOOT on OS9 with, maybe 9800 or X800 or GeForce 5200/5500/6200/6800.

I think you have to choose speed on OS9 or on OSX but not both. Core Image and Quartz Extreme cards seem to have no OS9 reports...

They may work, but not well in OS 9. There is no 3D acceleration on these cards. I used a modified 9700 in an MDD with OS9. While usable, it is not the best. I believe you are correct about choosing between speed in 9 or X. You don't get the best of both.

Check out japamac's site here. There is very good info on graphics cards for both 9 and X.

As stated above, it works. But there is no video acceleration of any kind. On some cards you can't even change the screen resolution from the detected default of your display. The GeForce 4Ti is one of the most, if not the most, power OS 9 cards. But as you have noticed, OS 9 support and CoreImage are mutually exclusive. You can't have both.

Japamac OS9 "Radeon 9700-9800 are not listed because no 3D accel. "
Maybe 2D? I need it for Logic and Protools on OS9 so maybe good 2D or fast RAM can benefit a driverless modern card as the 9800 vs the ATI Rage 128 I keep using...

Some people talk about reinstalling OS9 to get the proper resolutions.
