Interesting read. Big business saying DOMA hurts business. This should make some Republican heads explode. :D

It's so pointless to be anti-gay marriage in 2011. They're very well aware that they are on the losing end of the battle. I mean, do they honestly believe that in the year 2050 there still won't be gay marriage because a minority of the population is protesting it in 2011 for religious reasons? They know how this will play out, they just won't go down without a fight for principle.

Wow. Who marries who is so important to me that it took a while to figure out what DOMA meant...

Seriously, it's scary to me how passionate some people are about this. And they seem to be in power, too. What's the new mantra, "Hands off my business. Hands on your life"?

I love this article. It is exactly the smackdown homophobes need. It should be treated exactly the same as racism.

As correct as the article is, it scares me a little that it's come to the point that I can recognize a Morford piece without looking in under two sentences. His writing style is certainly distinctive.

Distinctive, and in this case, cutting- as it should be.

That's the exact same thought I had!

Morford can be a little over the top sometimes but this time he's right on the money.

I can remember back when there was a big rightward push to make English the official language of the US. We were assaulted with faux outrage and endless Chicken Little scenarios, that is until businesses realized they could make a killing if they catered to the Spanish speakers. The outrage pretty much disappeared when it started to affect profits and customer goodwill.

Hopefully, in 2050 religion will be completely extinct.

English is definitely one of the World's languages most under threat.

HIGHLY unlikely. These religions have endured for literally thousands of years. They aren't going to go away in 40. LOL

Yeah, seriously. The next generation of religious nuts are being bred as we speak.
