I have been using Overcast on iOS for a long time. Free, great app, and it's still being updated. They even save my subscription list so if I'm on a new iDevice, I don't have to re-subscribe to everything all over again. But they don't make an Android version.

Meanwhile on Android:
- Paid for Acast Pro, developer abandoned it
- Paid for Dogcatcher. Quite feature rich app, but interface is getting really dated and looks like it is abandoned too.
- Paid for Podkicker Pro. Interface is still in the Ice Cream Sandwich era, but at least the developer seems to be still supporting it.

What podcast app are you guys using on Android? Not interested in paying for one anymore after being screwed twice. With so many apps having questionable permissions nowadays, it's really a minefield.

I use Google Podcasts.
Can it automatically download new episodes for offline play? Couldn’t find that option anywhere.

[edit] seems like the auto download feature is only being rolled out to some users, not all. Typical a Google.

Why pay for other apps when the native iOS podcast app does everything you need. Play offline and automatically downloads while you’re charging your phone at night.
