So I was looking at my iPhone and iPad storage and if I scroll to the bottom

Ipad storage shows:

iPad os 8.79GB
System data 7.89gb

Iphone shows:

IOS 13.01GB
System data 8.22GB

I have no updates to install, how do I reduce all that?!

A similar question when I look at apps installed, Onedrive is currently using 4.64gb! I have lots of similar apps doing the same, presumably this is cached downloads. Is the only way to clear this or stop this happening removing and installing the app? Or periodically backing up the device and doing a wipe and re-install?

I wouldn’t worry about 8 GB unless you are out of space. My devices are at around 40 GB system data.

That said, the only sure fire way I know of to clear out system data is a wipe and restore from backup. Sometimes you can free up some space by syncing with a computer, but not all the time.

System data is mostly cache data though which will be cleaned up automatically if the phone is low on space.

I wouldn’t be concerned looking at your numbers. However regarding that app, it would depend on how you use it and what it contains. But I’ve had one or two that I thought were inordinately large and when checking I found that the app itself was fairly small but its data files were quite large. Since there was nothing critical in the app I deleted it and then re-installed from the App Store. That cleared the app by at least 50% and did not affect any function. I would do that before I’d even consider wiping my phone. Currently my 14PM shows 9.7 GB for ios and 6.3GB for system data. But that system data amount will vary wildly at different times.
