iPod Reformat Hard Drive

I want to do a complete reformat and reintstall of OSX on my eMac. I have an iPod so the question is - if the iPod has my entire iTunes library on it - once reformatting the eMac can I connect the iPod and fill my computer with what was on the iPod?
