Refunded movies “stuck” in iTunes

Hello,

Last week I bought some movies on iTunes but I regretted overspending so I asked for a refund on four of the movies.

I got the refund no problem but only one of the movies was deleted from my iCloud library. The other three were visible (and playable) until sometime the following day when they disappeared from my AppleTV and iPad.

However, they are still showing in my iTunes library in my Mac. There is no artwork but the cast & crew details still appear and clicking play opens the player with a black screen and nothing else happens.

The three movies also appear when I switch the view to downloaded movies only. However I do not remember downloading them (I only ever download movies on the iPad) and there is no download queue on the Mac.

Selecting to delete the movies only gives an option to hide but I want them removed. I’ve shutdown and restarted both iTunes and the Mac several times since the problem started but they remain.

Can anyone suggest a cause and a solution?

Regards

Perhaps you have your iTunes set as automatically downloading purchased items. If so, it will download the purchased item on to your mac.

To delete it permanently, go to your iTunes folder on your mac (usually in your "Music" folder) --> iTunes Media --> Movies -->

When you open the Movies folder, it should show all downloaded movies. You can delete the movie manually and when you open iTunes, it will not show up.

Hello,

Thank you for responding.

Your suggestion is one of the first things I tired. I should have said so in the original post.

Cheers

Does the movies still show in iTunes if you select (from "View" menu on iTunes) "Only downloaded movies"?

Apple support wanted me to to do a clean install of the macOS and I thought it too extreme for this problem.

I discovered later that I can get rid of the problem by creating a new iTunes library.

Is there a way that I can do this but have iTunes import/organise my music library using the current data for dates albums were added? My music is mostly imported from CDs.

Secondary click the movie and click "Show in Finder", and delete it from there.

Close iTunes all the way, then reopen iTunes.

Try that.

This is one of the first things I tried but the option to use Finder doesn’t appear.
