Sorry if this question is too basic. I have a new macbook pro with several apple apps ( including pages and keynote ) and office 2011 academic.

I am using time machine backups.

If my drive goes south or I upgrade to an SSD and reinstall Lion then do the transfer to restore from my time machine backup ... what happens?

During the setup phase of the Lion os reinstall it will get my apple id and probably figure out that my apps belong to my machine ( even though hard drive is different ).

What about the microsoft office side? Will the programs stay activated because they do not see any real change in the machine ( besides the new hard drive )?

    Any hints/tips/warnings appreciated.

As I noted I am running office 2011 academic ( which includes outlook ) and I am especially wondering about the impact of an upgrade to an SSD.

    Thanks in advance!
