I've never used the All My Files Folder in MacOS and I remove it from the side bar, but when prompted to open a file within apps, the Recents folder is persistent. Does anyone know how to remove it?

You may find this too drastic, but you remove it by setting System Preferences>General>Recent Items to "None" and logging out and back in.

That doesn't do it either...

I hate this new "feature" so much. This is the only thread I can find so far addressing it. Super annoying, especially since it can't be removed or even moved in any other spot than the top, above where I always keep my current project folder. Argh.

Select "Preferences" from the "Finder" menu". select sidebar. Uncheck the shortcuts that you don't want.

I've got to say, I find "Recents" to be quite useful. But I am taking a awful lot of screenshots these days.

I guess Ill have to ignore it since I have no choice. The reason it's frustrating is that if you move it, it just moves back to the top. That's where I keep my most recent project. I've done that for years :(

so, if you right click on Recents, and select "remove from sidebar", the item eventually returns?

You can't even right click on it, you can only move it. But then the next time you open anything, there it is again, mocking me.
