I don't think he will succeed. But I agree with his assessment.

No, I want the vote forced. See how many in purple districts vote No and incur the wrath of "The Squad".

Should have done this a while ago.. to late now.. the crazies are running things and it won't get any better sadly. To many mindless drones out there bowing down. Disgusting as always.

Didn’t know those fit under the high standards set forth for impeachment..... Hate the guy too, but those things listed don’t even come close to raising to the levels of impeachment. But this is for political posturing ( which will backfire on the Dems) anyway.

Kind of what I was thinking. Don't you need some backing like criminal behavior or maybe poor performance?

Having poor personal views on him doesn't seem to be impeachment worthy.

yes, although technically the House can decide what constitutes a crime. Politically it would be a devastating precedent.

None of those things listed raise to impeachable offenses... you can't just imeach someone cause you hate his attitude and political ideals.

with the long list of things Trump has done that are illegal, questionable, or downright dangerous... it's really nothing more than posturing to ignore many thigns that could legit be impeachable offenses to do so based on character and public statements.

submit articles of impeachment over his obstruction... or how he's a named conspirator in the eipstein case. Or how he has patential compromising personal finances to foreign powers. or the litany of lies he's told to congress.... get him up under oath and catch him perjuring.

but this? this is just silliness and it's going to go nowhere.

Haven’t we learned anything from the Clinton impeachment?

    Impeachment can’t be partisan.

Agreed. Aside from our disagreement on the various things, this is silly and dangerous.

The courts believe one of two things.

1.Only Congress has standing to investigate the emoluments provision (and a number of other issues) but only in the context of an impeachment inquiry.
2 The constitution is a dead letter, and the enemies of the president can suck it.

THE courts "believe" whatever is convenient to them, there is no reason why indefinite detention w/o trial should be the law or warrantless spying on American citizens either. ALL of those who passed that crap should be prisoners in GITMO......

How does a member "force" a vote.

Ms. Speaker, I move that the question be referred to committee.
Ms. Speaker, I second the motion.

Vote is held, the question is sent to committee, end of story. This did not happen the last two times because the Rs in control of the House were happy to just vote it down.

So wait. You want bush sent to The Hague for war crimes but don’t want Trump impeached? That’s insane.
    --- Post Merged, Jul 17, 2019 ---
    Why?

Bearing in mind the Republican house already impeached for a consensual blowjob.
    --- Post Merged, Jul 17, 2019 ---
Plenty of good reasons to impeach. All the never trumpers think Trump should be impeached.

I was all for Nancy Pelosi’s cautious approach to impeachment, but at this point I don’t know how you avoid it. To do nothing would be like a cop ignoring a bank robbery that’s going on right in front of him.

I still have qualms, but I think the right also overestimates how this might backfire on the Dems, and underestimates the left’s enthusiasm to boot this braying jackass out of office. He’s digging his political grave with his big mouth.

About a blowjob. It wasn’t a significant lie that made a mockery of impeachment.

    Trump is vastly worse.

Trump should be impeached and removed from office. The racism isn’t the reason to impeach, but there was more than enough of a basis for impeachment long before he tweeted out more racist stuff last weekend.

True. I'm all for getting Trump under oath. But apparently, unlike the Clintons - he thinks any attempt to get him under oath is a perjury "trap." Simply because he is pathological.

Also he's skating by on a technicality having been sworn in as President: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

I mean - his "saving" grace here is "to the best of my ability" - because it's clear his best is horrible.
