I watched without sound but it looks like some college kids were filming the congressman approaching on the sidewalk. When he finally gets to them he seems very angry and smacks the camera. He then grabs the wrist of one of the students and wont let him go and seems to be asking over and over again "who are you?"..

The congressman was acting quite douchie

Looks like they will get an A for the "Piss off a Politician Project"

Wish they would have had the "Make Glenn Beck Cry Like a Baby Project"

    omg

Bet that congressman was a Tea Partyer... ;)

But seriously, that is despicable. Those students do not need to "tell him who they are!"

He has absolutely NO reasonable expectation of privacy walking down the street, so the best he could legally do is ignore them and keep walking.

The best part is he just assaulted his employers. LOL.

I wish we could hit the reset button in politics and clear the scummy career politicians from the Hill.

This bozo has been on the public dole since '78. I respect him and thank him for his military service, but this guy's gotta be removed from office and sent to the slammer. It has clearly got to his head.

Sent link to Drudge. I hope it makes it up. EDIT: Sent it o Huffpo as well. Lets see what happens?

IMO only if he's a Republican. If he's a Democrat he should stay in office  (kidding - obviously).

EDIT: I've watched the video in full - that is appalling behaviour - he should be thrown out the party.

    Yes.

    Yes.

    Most things are. ;)

But I figured the winky-face would show I was pretty much kidding.

    Media Bias.

If this is not a testament to media bias, I dont know what is...

Just snapped these screen shots of major new outlets

    Makes me sick.

I may just be one lowly private sector citizen, but I think its PRETTY BIG NEWS when a congressman commits battery and false imprisonment against a young student. Yet we have MSNBC featuring videos of a girls hair being ripped out by a mixer.

I guess FoxNews putting this video where it belongs (top left corner above the fold with a screaming bold headline) is a result of them being evil greedy racists who hate poor people. That's how I'm supposed to say it, right guys?

The lack of a screenshot of Fox must mean that you also agree that it's not a news outlet ;)

I don't know what you're going on about. A college kid put a video on YouTube. Did he report the incident to the police? If not, the media most likely didn't know about it before it hit YouTube, unless the kid sent it to the media.

I agree that this is a big deal, and it is fairly prominent on Fox's website:

Jesus christ man. Thats not media bias, thats going for ratings. While this should be addressed it simply won't grab the ratings of other stories.

    2:37PM Story airs on MSNBC.

Supprisingly, the rep apologizes. Just once, I want to see someone say something like this: yeah I did it and so what. kid was a punk so i slapped him, he deserved it, grow up.

    different things...

    Really?

You can not compare TV to internet. People go to the internet for news when they are not around a TV. If I was not around a TV and relied on msnbc and huffingtonpost for my new, I would probably not even be aware that this incident happened.

Granted, Huffington Post did feature it below the fold.

So- This whole "ratings not bias" thing... That is a testament towards their viewers then. FoxNews.com thinks its a big deal to its readers when an elected congressman commits battery against a citizen. MSNBC.com does not think it's viewers think its a big deal. MSNBC is convinced that its viewers are so un-interested in this that it is not even listed in the front page. I had to search to find it. Sad part is, MSNBC is probably right on the money with their viewer's interests.

    Or am I wrong?

Or maybe CNN and MSNBC feel that the oil spill, deadly flooding in Oklahoma and Arkansas and ethnic cleansing in Kyrgyzstan are more important than a congressman and student getting into some fisticuffs.

By the way, both ABC News and CBS News now have the video on their home page.

Yeah, I almost missed it! Then I unfolded my monitor and there it was, right below the fold.
