I'm sure a great many of gun owners would sell back their guns if they were forced to, but I'm equally sure that there are some people out there who wouldn't, and who WOULD fight back. The government would have an awful, awful PR fiasco on its hands both domestically and in the eyes of the world if it were to turn its weapons (nuclear or otherwise) on its own people. I mean this country has used that very thing as justification for going to war against other countries, if I remember correctly.
