Breaking on CNN.
Hope he gets well
Just watched this on Fox/CNN... Looks like it is still developing.
NBC says he's in stable condition. Don't know about the capitol cops.
Well, it sounds like they caught the shooter. That is good news.
Was it random or was Steve specifically targeted?
I don't think they know or have released that yet. Nothing is really being said yet...
Apparently someone opened fire at a GOP softball practice. 50 shots. 5 people hit.
Yeah, I got that much. They are supposed to be making a statement soon.
Just read this online....
Rep. Ron DeSantis said he was asked, “Are those Republicans or Democrats out there practicing?”
DeSantis said the man who asked him the question fit the description of the shooter.
That was right before the shooting.
Yeah I read that as well. Looks like GOP members were being targeted specifically.
It'll be interesting to see who the shooter was/is.
Well they are saying the shooter is still alive so this is going to be interesting. Sounds like the Congressman was shot in the hip so luckily he should be ok.
Although they have the assailant in custody, I haven't read anything indicating his motive or intent to target GOP members.
Your impression could just come from the fact that it was a GOP baseball (softball?) team practice. Any attack on the team would appear to be targeting GOP members simply by the makeup of the team.
But we will see.
The report I read said the shooter was a 40-50 year old white male.
Why was he targeting republicans only, in your opinion?
Shouldn't we wait for more info before trying to turn this political, we all know that's where it will end up.
Horrible. I hope he's alright. I'm also curious in the future how he and those affected will view legislation around the 2A now that it's "hit home" so to speak.
The police have as yet declined to release any information on the identity of the shooter, saying only that the incident appears to be a "deliberate attack".
Reports are he survived and is in good spirits (relative, no doubt) and was well enough to make a cogent statement.
Which is still not the same as targeting people because they are GOP.
So, did civilians who have the right to bear arms stop this from happening? Nope.
