Republican Who Claims Holocaust Was Orchestrated by Gay Nazis Wins Enough Support For Massachusetts Governor Primary.

The title of the thread was taken from the article.

The Republican party has gone off the deep end.

Always thought this guy was into some weird depraved sexual acts based on his tenacity to be a jackass.

The thread title is not correct. He won a spot on the primary ballot. He didn’t win the primary.

So you don't think he should be allowed to run in the primary ?

In Massachusetts, a candidate needs to get 15 percent of the vote in the state Republican convention to get on the primary ballot. This guy got 30 percent, which is incredibly damning of the Republican Party in Massachusetts.

I think that he should be allowed to run, but I'm surprised that he received 30% of the vote.

PS: I'm not sure how you interpreted my initial post as a statement that "he shouldn't be allowed to run".
It indicates that a large percentage of Republicans in Massachusetts endorse this person's beliefs.

I don’t know anything about this particular race, but 30 percent is good enough to get someone into a run off in a lot of races. That’s definitely concerning.

It's not that the people at the convention liked the candidate. It's more a reflection on how much many Republicans dislike Charlie Baker.

I know that if I lived over the border in Massachusetts, I would vote for anyone other than Charlie Baker.

Note: I didn't think anyone could be as bad as Deval Patrick but I think Charlie Baker is.

No, I don't. I think the parties should be able to have a say as to who runs under their banner or not.

Another example of what we faced in 2016. The candidates were bad and worse. Are we unable to find persons of integrity and free from criminal convictions and concerning behaviors to run for office?

Need to know, did the they come from the dark or bright side of the moon?

And were their Reichsflugscheiben powered by iOS or Android?

It's not entirely a Democrat or Republican issue. The problem occurs when either side has a huge majority in the electorate.

In Massachusetts, the Democrats have almost total control with the Massachusetts legislature in effect running everything. The Massachusetts governor is more of a figure head no matter which party the governor is in and the governor rubber stamps everything the Massachusetts legislature wants. The current breakdown of Massachusetts legislators is 119 Democrats, 34 Republicans, and 2 Independents (i.e. a Democrat super majority).

In almost all the legislature elections, the Democrat candidate runs unopposed by any Republican candidate because it cost a lot of money (if you are a serious candidate) and you are going to lose against the Democrat candidate. When you get a situation like that, the only candidates that will run are the fringe (almost entirely bad) candidates that are mostly in it for recognition.

Of course not, but I doubt the Democrats attract many holocaust deniers and Mazi's as candidates. This is a matter of degree, and the GOP are attracting some fairly extreme and unhinged right-wingers who run as candidates. The GOP won't condemn them because they need as many votes as possible, and they do not want to alienate those who merely lean toward racist, xenophobic, and authoritarian views. Let us not forget that this runs all the way to the top, an example set by Trump and his reaction to the neo-nazi violence in Charlottesville that left one dead and others injured.

So, yeah, don't even try 'all parties are bad'.

I'm not trying it, I am flat out saying it. I can certainly find fault in both most recently with your #metoo leader.

Nah, was thinking bout "Iron Sky".

Coz the idea of "gay nazis" is either the concept/title for a really good trash-comedy or really bad porn movie.....

The GOP is late to the game. The dems have had the crazies for a long time, so lets give the reps their turn. The dems have Hillary Clinton, Obama, Weiner, Wasserman Schultz, Schneiderman, Holder, and let's not forget the most crazy of all...Nancy Polosi. The GOP does not have sole ownership of "wackaloons".

If “the most crazy of all” succeeded masterfly in pushing the ACA through the House, what does that make Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell who failed utterly to pass ACA repeal?
