Hello, I been trying to find an answer if I order the iphone 5s for store pickup like in bay area (Walnut Creek), Can I buy it for full price once I go in store for pick-up? I understand I will need to use my ATT account info but I dont have upgrade available so I wanted to buy it for full price. Can they do a refund and just check out at the store for full price? Anyone here did this?

Yeah, I want an answer to this as well. Can you buy device only without any account details? I know you can if you walk in the door but does this apply for personal pickup?

No seems like only T-Mobile phones are offered contract free on their site, and all the other carriers if you sign the contract.

Otherwise you gotta do it in person.

I posted this very experience on another thread.
I read that someone did this earlier, so I gave it a shot. Reserved two phones at the Beverly Center and when I went to pick up, they said I could NOT purchase full price.

Reason being that the phones reserved via website, are technically "online inventory" and not the store's inventory, hence they can't sell me the phone because it's not theirs. Yes, this makes no sense to me at all as the phone is physically there. What they said was the phones go back to online inventory and cannot be purchased by walk-ins.

This rep called his manager per my request, and they both stuck to their guns. Even though I mentioned someone did this successfully at another store, they claimed this was impossible and that person messed up by allowing that purchase.

While in that store I called Pasadena, who also said you cannot purchase full price. The person went as far as to tell me that even if you purchased full price, you HAVE to activate the phone in store. That's a bunch of bull because buying in full makes the phone yours outright and you cannot be forced to open and activate in store.

Now, I've read PLENTY users who had no problem even buying full price on release date, and again someone earlier who reserved online and bought full once he picked it up. I seriously think each case varies and depends on who you're dealing with.

Or I could just be SOL

Thanks for the heads up. I was afraid some apple genius would pull something like that. I do have an AT&T account Its not available for upgrade. When I enter the info it shows up with the 449 price with a 2 year contract. But I just want to pay full price with no contract. Hmmm...I don't know if Walnut Creek would do something like that...I guess I will call them or just place a reserve and hope for the best.

Maybe to prevent sales to scalpers? Not sure how scalpers buy theirs but I would think this limitation is a good thing... In the end, the few (scalpers) always screws it up for the rest.

No. You can only buy "Device only" in person. Can't be done by reservation.

I'm not eligible for a discount. I went thru the process and it showed full price. Bought it, waited for it to be available for pick up and paid full price. Got home and got the "congrats your iPhone is unlocked" message. Hope this helps
