Running latest Tiger. Had an issue where nothing in the forum could get me past log in, so I had to reinstall Tiger. I was able to choose archiving the previous system during install, but beyond that, no chance to do the normal and full back-up, nor the back-up one would do in preparation. (I had backed up my work files on a flash drive daily.)

Mail and iPhoto are thus empty and acting like I'm a new user. Does anyone know how I can best and most safely transfer the emails and photos from the archived system - it all seems to be there - into the new Mail and iPhoto?

Latest versions on system and all aps. Thanks.

if it truely did back up EVERYTHING, then you should be able to just drag and drop the files into the new system (I believe). Or you can probably point iPhoto to the place where the backup is, and it should import everything onto its folder on the new system.

If you did just a normal backup, Mail stuff might not have been saved.

Good luck.
