RICHARD DAWKINS, the atheist campaigner, is planning a legal ambush to have the Pope arrested during his state visit to Britain “for crimes against humanity”.

Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, the atheist author, have asked human rights lawyers to produce a case for charging Pope Benedict XVI over his alleged cover-up of sexual abuse in the Catholic church.

The pair believe they can exploit the same legal principle used to arrest Augusto Pinochet, the late Chilean dictator, when he visited Britain in 1998. [...]

Richard

I've read a little about this and it is interesting, and according to some UK officials it is well within possible and under serious consideration, Richard has had nothing to do with the stories I've read about but I'm sure we would support it and it may just have been an oversight not to mention Richard in those articles. I don't have an opinion really but I have found it interesting.

Nothing to do with politics - and it wont happen till September long after the election.

Part of me would enjoy a car chase between a 1.6 Diesel Astra from the Met, and the Popemobile.

If its that late, then it won't affect the election but I disagree about it not being political. The attempted or threatened arrest of such a major figure will certainly have political ramifications even if the politicians are not, and should not be, involved.

Good luck..
So all this advanced intellectual secularism from Darwin's Rottweiler and his atheist chum, Hitchens, prompt them to notifying everyone in advance? Good. The Papal Guard can be extra wary of these nuts when His Holiness visits the empire...

Papal Guard vs. The Met. The Met wins, hands down.

And who is protecting the children from priests? Not "His Holiness", obviously.

Right on buddy, hey could be worse. Could be pretending to be the voice of the invisible man indoctrinating men into celibacy and the care over children whilst covering up, or in the least, turning a blind eye to any number of sordid indiscretions.

I mean that, that would really be 'nutty'. Almost as nutty as thinking a man like that is above the law...

Bemalte Blumen duften nicht.
Examples of this level of organized criminal activity excused by liberals, please.
Not saying there is. But to say that every republican condones such behavior? Yeah ItN is pushing it this time. But not all of us think it's ok. In fact, it may interest you to know that I do not consider Roman Catholicism to be Christian, but in fact, a cult.

(IOKTGIYL- It's ok to generalize if you're liberal)

Fair enough. But we've seen far too much of this kind of thing excused by the right. You have to admit that.
