Check this out. Robot makes scientific decisions normally reserved for humans.

"This is one of the first systems to get (artificial intelligence) to try and control laboratory automation," Ross King, a professor of computer science who led the research at Aberystwyth University, told Live Science. Current robots, he noted, "tend to do one thing or a sequence of things. The complexity of Adam is that it has cycles."

Maybe that thread earlier "Did You Know" was right in saying that by 2013 (?) computers would be as intelligent, if not more intelligent, that the human brain.

    Scary stuff, IMO.

The biggest problem in the field of artificial intelligence is actually deciding what the definition of intelligence really is. Harder than it sounds.

And I guess how much free will and intelligence to give 'it' - making decisions, learning from them, acting without question or permission etc.

I know nothing about AI, just what you see from TV/movies and the general "what if.." of it all - like the Eagle Eye movie.

In the future there will be only 2 living employees in every company, a man and a dog.

The man is there to feed the dog and the dog is there to stop the man from messing with the machinery.

I would just like to point out that the robot didn't actually "discover" anything, it had just done what it was programmed to do, its like giving someone instructions then being amazed they actually followed them out
