So, have encountered the Red Ring of Death with my 360. This happened about 6 months ago for the first time, at which point I posted and MacRumorUser helpfully pointed out that sometimes the hard drive can come loose. Indeed, I jiggled it a tad, and things worked fine, and all was well again... until this morning.

I can't imagine anything that I _did_ to the 360 causing this. I left for the night, came back and the end. I've owned it since December of 2006, so I worry this puts it out of warranty. The 360 is itself a bit dusty, and it has been very warm and humid in my apartment recently (just due to weather and lack of a/c), but I don't think that that's the culprit.

Ideas/possible courses of action?

I think they extended the warranty to 3 years so you are probably still covered. Sorry, seem's like I'm the only 360 owner around here who has yet to experience the full RROD horror

I've owned my 360 since (about) November of 2006 and no RROD as of yet. Terribly unlucky for you OP.

Call up MS and have 'em ship out a box. Or you could do the x clamp fix and void the remainder of your warranty.
