In the words of Spongebob Squarepants- "Its the best day ever!"
One down...a few more to go
when it rains it pours...
Source please? I am not finding this news anywhere.
This has been a nice 24 hours.
cnn.com has it as one of their red banners.
i'm assuming he wants to pre-empt investigations forcing him to resign.
All I see is a link to a live video feed which you have to pay to watch. No actual story.
Its on the TV. give the website a few minutes. One can only write so fast....
there is none yet. it's just breaking news, a la britney filing for divorce yesterday!
Nothing official, but the AP has the story too.
The banner was there a second ago and now its gone. Bush speaking now...
He started with a joke and no one laughed. Except for me of course
Try CNN again. It's now the headlline story.
Oh yes. Jumping or pushed? I'm thinking the first blame game victim just got his marching orders
Its official. just heard it from Bush's own mouth.
Bush just announced that Rumsfield is stepping down.
I'm pretty pumped.
The future looks a... little bit brighter. I'm pretty excited. I'm actually semi-excited and optimistic about the future for the first time in a really long time.
Actually, no, b/c TN, when I live passed an amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman 81/19.
So maybe I'll just kind of be hopeful-ish. I think my state is my least favorite state right now. That's why I'll hopefully be out of Nashville for good, never coming back, when I go to college in 5 years.
Yes. I loved that! Glad I'm home sick today. I'm the first to know of annny of my classmates. No that they'd care much. I seem to have a knack to be sick on elections. Well for Kerry "sick" was crying and sick to my stomache with disappointment. This time I'm... actually sick.
Bush seems really grumpy...
Not when I checked. But anyway it appears to be true. Pushed, I'm sure. The timing having as much as anything else to do with burying the story as deeply as possible.
Edit: Oh yeah: Ding, dong the witch is dead...
W is on the tube right now, mumbling his way through the prepared text. He just said that Rumsfeld is stepping down, and that Robert Gates is taking his place.
actually, it's a pretty smart play. The buzz today was certainly going to be about the turnover in the House. By replacing Rumsfeld (something that had been in the cards anyway), the White House has recaptured the news cycle and re-focused the debate on the national security.
EDIT: seconds ago, Bush said "I thought we were going to do fine yesterday. Shows what I know." hehehe...exactly.
Who thinks they'll push this nomination through as fast as possible so that it occurs before the Democrats gain whatever power they might in the Senate? I mean, 50-50 in the Senate would **** up his chances...
Good riddance to bad rubbish...erm...I mean Rumsfeld...erm...I mean...erm.... don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.
A good day indeed.
Yep. He seems really irritable. And I audibly laughed when he got bleeped out. There was only one part of this election that was a disappointment to me. (Tennessee and the other states that banned same-sex marriage)
As much as I think this can't be a bad thing, I also think this is good strategy for the Republicans. I think they are going to do everything in their power to hand the reigns of Iraq off to the Democrats, so that when everything gets much much worse, it's somehow the Democrats fault.
Bush will throw a tantrum in 3...2... oops! beat me to it!
YAY I wonder what other trash is finally on the way out
