The UN is a toothless, anti-American, spineless paper tiger. China and especially Russia can go to HELL IMO, as the US contributes almost 30% of funding to UN operations, almost triple that of the 2nd largest contributor, China, which is just over 10% and pathetic Russia, which is just a piffle 4%.

    http://www.un.org/en/peacekeeping/operations/financing.shtml

The top 10 providers of assessed contributions to United Nations Peacekeeping operations for 2017 are:

    1. United States (28.47%)
    2. China (10.25%)
    3. Japan (9.68%)
    4. Germany (6.39%)
    5. France (6.28%)
    6. United Kingdom (5.77%)
    7. Russian Federation (3.99%)
    8. Italy (3.75%)
    9. Canada (2.92%)
    10. Spain (2.44%)
The United States contributes more financially than any other country, but gets **** on and foots the bill.

Almost sounds like the tax system in America. People pay a lot of taxes and roads are still **** in California. With that in mind people could also say the tax system is ****** in America compared to other countries.

Is the UN all about payment? Is the UN supposed to run off a system like the American tipping system..?

Russia and China should not even be allowed in the UN. They are socialist nations and their citizens have very little freedom that Westerners take for granted.

In terms of cash flow (money moving about), then yeah, worlds biggest economy. But in terms of net worth, we are over our heads in red ink. Our credit cards are maxed out, our bank accounts empty; we're living beyond our means. But no worry, we can sell more US Bonds to the Chinese. They will keep propping us up because they need us to buy the stuff they manufacturer.

I have traveled quite often to China and lived in Asia for 25 years. I can tell you that today their economy is pretty self sufficient and their local demand is quite strong.

This is another false narrative set out by the media.
China doesn't own a whole lot of U.S. treasuries and they don't "prop us up."

The national debt just crossed the $20 trillion mark.
China holds a little over $1.2 trillion in U.S. treasuries.
Japan holds just over a trillion.
Total debt owned by foreign entities is roughly $6 trillion.
The rest is an IOU to ourselves. Public debt is $14.4 trillion. Social Security Trust Fund owns most of it.

The real-estate market in California has been overvalued for decades. It needs to crash, not be artificially propped up.
As of 2015, the average cost of a home in California is 2 1/2 times ($440k) the national average ($180k).

California needs the artificially high values to keep property tax revenues coming in.
General property tax was frozen by Prop 13 at 1% of assessed value, so they cannot increase the rate. If that assessed value drops, tax revenue drops.
In California, the assessed value is the property price at the last sale plus no more than a 2 percent increase per year.

Here in AZ, we base property taxes on the land's assessed value, not the home itself.
So you can have a million dollar house sitting on a parcel of land that is only worth $100k. You would be taxed on the $100k valuation, not the million dollar house.

So in a way the state that collects property taxes from home owners is happy that the Asians propped up the property market in California.

My top two things to reform the UN would be

    1) move the HQ from NYC to Switzerland
    2) boot the brits out of the permanent security council

    Lol..
I think the Palestinians would be happy to see the Brits booted out of the UN for the misery that they have caused them but why would you want to see the Brits booted out of the UN?

Not booted from the UN but removed as a permanent member of the Security Council. There should be representation from Africa or the middle east in their place.
