One might feel some empathy for someone who's in a jail but also in a position where if she gets out, a lot of people might like to shut her up for good... but in my opinion this administration and its redoubtable leaders will founder over corruption along lines of much more mundane interest to a vast number of American citizens and taxpayers.

The extents of deregulation and unprecedented pushing at the envelopes of executive power and interest conflicts --by Trump and his appointed agents as well-- are not going unnoticed by assorted inspectors general and members of congress and the judiciary.

It may sell papers to peddle accounts of an unfortunate woman in a Thai jail, but the tedious tracking of money (and the desire for the power to get more money) that flows through and around a corrupt administration is how the abuse of power by a corrupt administration is finally brought low.

Who knows if there's a dress. Is there a receipt for the dress?

Not sure a sex scandal would bring Trump down. We know he's a lothario and sexual assaulter. From what I have heard about his treatment of Hope Hicks, one wonders how verbally abusive he is toward Melania. But regardless - unless he's caught, under oath, lying and impeached, his base won't care about his affairs. We've seen how they've responded to allegations.

We have a recording of Trump confessing to sexual assault. His supporters don’t care. This won’t change anything, even if true. He’s a vile piece of crap, but he’s their vile piece of crap.

It could easily be true, and if Supreme Leader is aware of her plight, I’d expect no help from the State Dept, but the CIA, you never know. ;)

This exactly. It’s unbelievable, that with powerful figures around the country being taken down by sexual scandal, some that occurred decades ago, yet we saw fit to elect our dear sexual predator POTUS. Wait a minute, this is the GOP, it’s completely believable. I blame tribalism, being conned, fantasy expectations, and just plain horrible judgement.

It's likely true but it won't even make the story of the day because nobody cares. Had Obama had an affair it would've been the story of the decade.

I have seen some anecdotal evidence that a subset of his supporters so limited their media consumption to the narrowest of pro-Trump sources during the campaign that they are not even aware of many of the sexual assault allegations and issues. When a story came up last year about the Access Hollywood tape, a reporter for the Washington Post who wrote about it mentioned on Twitter that she received several inquiries from Trump supporters who said that it was the first time they had heard about the tape and asked why it hadn't come up during the campaign.

HYPOCRACY RULES the GOP. Just think, they impeached Bill Clinton for a consenting affair yet Golden Sexual Predator Don is embraced.

However I’ll admit that the Republican establishment hated his guts during the campaign. But look how adapatable they are, and how easily they can chuck their professed standards, especially their sincere  faith based ethical standards for a sinister conman, who from a leadership standpoint is a wreckless, dangerous ignoramus.:mad:

To be fair, Clinton was impeached for lying, not the affair. But point taken. Also the reason that Trump should be petrified of any testimony because he will perjure himself within minutes.

I’ll expand on my point. :) Yes he lied about a sexual relationship that was of primary concern to his wife, not the Congress. And while Slimey Newt was rallying his troops for impeachment, he was banging his secretary (now wife), while his first wife lay dieing in the hospital. That impeachment was pure partisan politics. And enlight of what has followed in the GOP, embracing a self acknowledged sexual predator, it’s unadulterated hypocrisy. I guess Supreme Leader gets points for honesty.:rolleyes:

[INT. BUZZFEED BOARD ROOM - DAY]

"Sir, the Richard Gere gerbil story is losing clicks."

    "Try 'Russian Scandal and Trump'!"

    "Sir, yes sir!"

    [one week later]

"Well, I see the 'Russian Scandal and Trump' went absolutely nowhere. Any ideas?"

"Sir, how about we leave it alone, but slide in the word 'escort'?"

"Excellent idea, Smithers! Run with 'Russian Escort Scandal and Trump'!"

    [one week later]

    "Well, that didn't work either!"

"Sir, how about we leave it alone, but insert the word 'suspicious', or even 'lascivious'?"

"Yes, yes, I like where you are headed, Smithers. Try 'Russian Midget Escort Scandal and Trump'!"

Please. Like the press needs any help with Trump putting his foot in his mouth or "scandal" around his administration. They provide plenty of material all on their own.

    Also. Buzzfeed.

By having one - do you mean physically, or one on speed dial here in the US?

Physically, although I wouldn't put it past Anthony to have her in his contact list (although she may be too old).

yah but if I were a Russian troll killing time until the next round of "all hands on deck" then I'd possibly ask a WaPo reporter about that too. Why not... all in service of making a revival of references to that tape sound like "another" effort to put "fake news" out there. Or maybe I'd try that if I were just a troll who likes to take on the Washington Post because it's the Washington Post.. since there are thousands of those trolls posting comments every day to WaPo articles.

I'm not saying that a few bona fide Trump supporters may not have heard about that tape during the 2016 campaign; anything is possible even if some (or a lot) of what went on in that campaign made headlines that lingered for weeks. But it's also possible that a couple of trolls made the inquiries. I'll give Trump enough on "media bias" to suggest that a WaPo reporter won't just ignore a direct inquiry from a self-described Trump supporter when he or she comes off like an idiot or else a cave dweller.

I'm not claiming that it's widespread, but I have seen more than a few reported examples of real women (not trolls) who voted for Trump and didn't know anything about the Access Hollywood tape. From another WaPo story:

^^ I'd like to say that sonds preposterous to me but it does sound right on the money for a large chunk of this part of the American boondocks as well. Especially the part about women taking their political cues from their husbands and otherwise not following "all that political stuff."

Who is we? You and your anecdotal knowing someone IRL? Where did you "hear" about his other treatments? Where did you hear how he's verbally abusive to Melania? What sources? It's almost as if you could write for Buzzfeed or any other modern outlet.

I never said he WAS verbally abusive to Melania. Reading comprehension is very important for an intelligent debate. As for treatment of Hope:

    https://www.aol.com/article/news/20...-steam-his-pants-while-he-wore-them/23295303/

    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/28/us/politics/hope-hicks-resign-communications-director.html

and then there were various news stories/leaks over the past year.

And we know he's a lothario. Are you really going to deny that?
