I'm having a good news/bad news weekend with Safari on the new Tiger OS this weekend. Over all I'm quite happy but:

* Our office has an Windows IIS-based Intranet. The security model the IT team uses has always prevented me from using Safari to access the application. I'm unclear on the details but when I would go to our Intranet I was not even asked for my username and password. Instead I got a canned page from the IIS server saying I don't have permission to use the service. I've used Explorer instead to surf that site in the past. Well, Safari 2.0 handles that just fine and that's a big plus. Count one for the Good Guys.

* However, we also use Microsoft Exchange at work and I use the WebDAV web client from time to time and Safari has always handled that beautifully. (I also use Entourage and that still works great in Safari.) Now, however, I'm continually being asked for my username and password. It's like the system forgets it. And it happens at strange intervals. I may be asked for it when I first connect and then not again for several hours, whereupon I may be asked five times in a minute. It's quite frustrating. I can see that the username/password combo is stored in my keychain just fine. I've tried deleting it from keychain and rebuilding it with no luck. And I've verified this behavior on three separate Macs. Boo. :(

Strange that I get a big win on one authentication front while losing on another. Anyone else seeing this behavior? Any suggestions?

Thanks!
