Safari favorites icons not loading everytime

It started after the Safari 14.0.1 update that every once in a while when opening Safari, not all the favorite icons on the startpage will load. Some will be grey.

I have to quit and restart Safari and after that all icons will be displayed properly. Very annoying.

It was fine with Safari 13 and Safari 14.0.

Anybody else having this issue?

Yes.

Safari 14.0.3.

Didn't update to 14.1, which was yanked, I think.

Huh, at least I'm not alone

The problem is still present in 14.1.

I tried messing with some of the options in the developer menu to no avail.
If I only knew what changed between 14.0. and 14.0.1...

Same thing for me.

But... Some magically appeared hours later. Maybe it takes a while. Sounds dopey, but so far that's been the case here.
