Safari or Mail will NOT display BMP

Hello,

I am new to mac and I am trying to learn more about it. When I get an email or go to a web page that has a bmp picture on it, all I see is a ? in a blue box. I know there has to be a way to fix this, but I cannot find it in any of my searches.

Enable BMP Image in the Images - Still image files in MIME Settings... in the QuickTime preferences pane of System Preferences.

Thanks for your response and suggestion, but it did not work. If I look at the email on my pc in outlook it looks fine, but the pictures do not show on my Mac in mail.
