Safari tab question (bookmarks in folders)

I have tabbed browsing enabled in Safari, and can command click to open links and bookmarks in new tabs.

However, this is not working with bookmarks inside folders (which is most of my links.)

Is this a bug or something? I can't imagine this being implemented on purpose. I don't have this problem with Camino.
