Lol it really is funny how little they tried. Their workflow was:

1) what's ours?
2) what's theirs?
3) do theirs.

Lol

This kind of "copying" doesn't bother me. I don't see looking at someone else's process and realizing that your own process isn't as streamlined as it can be. And I believe Samsung's implementation isn't the same as far as looks - they just reduced their process from 3 down to 1 (for example).

It's also not an advertised feature (IE - samsung claiming they have it). It's just there.

Pizza analogy (just because I love pizza) - Dominos figures out a way to get a pie made and delivered in 30 minutes or less. Other pizza chains realized and deconstruct the process and figure out a way to do it as well. They don't make the claim in ads, etc - they just do it. Is it copying - yes and no. They aren't making their pies exactly like Dominos

There isn't a company around that doesn't want to have process optimization. To ignore the potential to streamline can be catastrophic for a business.

I do believe there's a difference between modeling and copying. That being said - there are some things that, in my opinion, do look like Samsung copied Apple with only minor tweaks. Will it be enough to get them off the hook?

Someone once told me "Any change of 10 percent is original" - I don't believe it - and it's certainly not legal definition - but I guess we'll see how much or how little is permissible.

So from what you just said you are privy to samsungs internal design teams code ?

WoW. Actually, I didn't read the 'entire' document. I should probably go and read each slide carefully.

It's hilarious. They practically copied all the UI behaviour, UI elements, software and hardware design of the iPhone - 'feature-for-feature'.

Hope, Samsung goes to hell now.

Its a lot of little stuff that you really don't notice but makes the experience so much more polished on iOS.

I've said it before, i don't believe it's blatant copying (as in 1:1). But it is copying, and that too with zero extra effort. They took apples implementation and duplicated it. As i mentioned earlier, the only thing Samsung can do to defend this is nitpick the definition of "copy".

I wrote earlier - that both sides will have to define copying as they see it and defend/support their definition. That's pretty much what this all boils down to. Then you made the homework analogy.

This is where we differ in opinion on bias I think. You want to think I am biased towards Samsung. But as you read above - I am stating quite clearly that both sides have their work cut out for them. Conversely - you're just stating that Samsung needed to defend and "nitpick" the definition. It's cool. Just pointing it out.

The statement I just quoted you from.

I made a lot of comments in what you quoted. I'm sincerely unsure why you're asking and what it was in reference to because I don't get the connection. Spell it out for me

apparently it's either you are all in or all out to some people around here

based on what statement?

Which one?

-Oletros

That one. How on earth can you know how samsung made their "changes" ?

Which one?

Question - things can be heated enough in these discussions. Why are you being purposely antagonistic. Wouldn't it be better to just let it go and either ignore him?

I fail to see how a post like this does anything other than incite - which again, says more about you then him.

I don't. I didn't say I did. I was speaking for myself - not Samsung.

You claim to like pizza, then mention Domino's in your example. You've got some questionable taste in food, man. :p

LOL - I actually hate dominos - especially living in NYC - but the example required dominos. The loving pizza was a side note :)

No.

I plan to ignore. I plan to apologise. I plan to forgive.

But the guy never leaves me alone. I don't like adding people to the ignore list because I like reading opinions for whatever they are and obviously, people are informative.

But if this attempt of mine, is attributed to the behaviours of mocking, then I very well let it be.

It is not the first time he does it, but why answer to a clear flame?

Well based on your statement that you "believe" I have every right to "believe" samsung copied Apple without being bashed for it don't I ?

Wow. This is the motherlode of damning evidence. Poor Samsung. Nah, who am I kidding, I don't feel sorry for thieves.

I earnestly hope Samsung burns to the ground. Deceitful talentless little turds.

...And this is why Samsung disgusts me.

Stupid Apple fans. Every company benchmarks and compare against it's competition. This is especially the case when a competitor seems to be gaining market share - you want to find out what they're doing and you're not, to find out where you're going wrong. It's business. This whole thing about it just being a document about how to copy Apple is also tripe: if you actually read the page attached to the first post, one of the points on directions for improvement is:

"Remove a feeling that iPhone's menu icons are copied by differentiating design"

~Greg.

Curious as to what people get out of this, i mean lets say apple wins and samsung gets fined and proven to be copiers. Will people get a share of the settlement.
the way i see it unless you work for either company or are a share holder what do you personally gain by either side winning.
that said i do enjoy these threads, but i have no love for any company, they sell me a product i give them money end of story for me.
if they want me to advertise there product and praise it and worship it they can pay me and ill do it

I respect that. I've never put anyone on ignore. If I don't want to read someone - I either skip over their post or I read it and exercise self control not to post back. MOST of the time ;) But generally - like you, I'd rather read the opinion and then choose my course of action.

And I got that you were being mocking - I just thought it was a tangent on a thread that's already incendiary. Didn't mean to come off condescending to you either.

Well, I'll stop being a kid. No more mocking. :/
